Interview Assignment
Due Week 7, Feb 19, 2015
To Do: 1. Identify a position (career or volunteer) that you may be interested in pursuing in your Civic Journey.
2. Identify knowledgeable individuals whom you can schedule an informational interview. Perhaps this person may become a mentor. If needed, Instructors can help identify potential informants, especially within the APALI network.
3. Carefully select about 6-8 strategic, open-ended questions that will provide you with the best insight and useful information for the interview.
Identifying a position:
This position may be one you wish to apply for during or soon after CLP (eg. such as a county or city commission), or it is one you may need to work toward in the future (such as a director or CEO of a non-profit). Given the government and non-profit focus of CLP, some possible positions include elected office, county and city commissions, non-profit boards, public policy advocacy, government and legislative staff positions, community organizing, corporate community/government relations, labor advocacy, etc. You may think of other positions to check with instructors.
Interview Report: The interview report should be 2+ pages. For title, please use this format: "Interview with a City Councilmember: Ash Kalra". Please turn in two hard copies (for Mayra and Michael). If you wish to share the interview report with the class, please email as an attachment to [email protected] so that it can put into a folder in the CLP website.
